Non resident Indians receive life insurance and pension fund scheme

The government of India has given the green light for the Pension and Life Insurance Fund for Indian workers overseas having Emigration Check Required passports from January next year.

The scheme’s objective is to encourage and allow overseas Indian workers by providing co-contribution to save for returning to the country and their eventual resettlement, save for their retirement and obtain an affordable life insurance cover for natural death during the coverage period.

Overseas Indian workers who are in possession of Emigration Check Required passports and between the ages of 18 and 50 who are emigrating abroad or have already moved overseas on a contract/employment visa are eligible to enrol in the PLIF scheme. The initiative will benefit Indian workers overseas with ECR passports residing in ECR countries.

The countries which the scheme is valid for are Afghanistan, Iraq, Indonesia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Oman, Malaysia, Qatar, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Sudan and Thailand.
